The business website redesign checklist

Use this checklist to turn a redesign into a business improvement—not a visual reskin.

Start with the reason

A redesign should solve a named business problem. Maybe buyers misunderstand the offer, mobile performance is weak, the team cannot publish confidently, or campaigns land on generic pages. Write the reason and the success signal before collecting visual references.

Inventory URLs, analytics, rankings, content, conversion paths, integrations, accessibility issues and ownership. Preserve what earns demand. Remove what creates maintenance cost without helping a customer.

Audit before redesigning

Use analytics and customer conversations to identify the journeys worth protecting. A redesign brief should record the pages that attract qualified visits, the questions prospects still ask and every action the business considers a conversion.

Create the new navigation and content model before polishing the visual direction. This makes it possible to test whether a visitor can understand the offer, compare options and contact the business without assistance.

Protect the launch

Define the future information architecture and redirect map before deleting anything. Test navigation with real tasks, write content in the design process and validate components across breakpoints.

Before launch, verify analytics, forms, metadata, redirects, accessibility, performance and ownership. Monitor errors and search visibility after release; launch is a transition, not a finish line.
